4 Ways to Prevent and Reduce Fine Lines

A few months ago, I noticed fine lines on my forehead and it has been driving me crazy! I understand that aging is a part of life, but I am only 22 years old. So, I decided to do some research and I found some easy ways that I can reduce the fine lines I already have and prevent more from appearing. Everybody will inevitably develop fine lines and wrinkles at some point in life, but taking care of your skin will help delay this as long as possible.

1. Moisturize

The key to healthy skin is to keep it well hydrated. Unfortunately, drinking plenty of water doesn’t always do the trick. If you have dry skin, the best thing you can do is use moisturizer. I have combination skin; my cheeks and chin are oily and my forehead is dry as a desert. I like to combat my fine lines by using this Antioxidant Moisturizer from Briosense. It contains pomegranate and jojoba oil to condition the skin and combat signs of aging. Unfortunately it is no longer sold, but a very similar product is the Garnier SkinActive Antioxidant Super Moisturizer. It provides your skin with 48 hours of hydration!

2. Eating Key Foods

Now that you’ve got a moisturizer to hydrate your skin, let’s make sure to eat foods that will boost your collagen production. For example, tomatoes, citrus, spinach, and berries are all amazing for your skin. Basically, eat more fruits and vegetables!

3. Change your Sleeping Position

If you sleep on your side or stomach, it may be smart to consider switching to sleeping on your back. When you sleep with part of your face pressed into your pillow, it creates friction and eventually leads to “sleep lines”. If you sleep on your back, you can avoid developing these fine lines. If you find it too difficult to change your sleeping position, try switching to satin pillowcases - this will lessen the friction.

4. Facial Yoga

There are certain face exercises you can do to stimulate elastin and collagen production, and to firm and smooth your skin. This is commonly known as facial yoga, and there are an abundance of Youtube videos that you can reference. This is my favorite video, and I try to do it several times per week. Fair warning, you will look absolutely ridiculous while doing this video… but the results are worth it!
